Water Safety and Cybersecurity

In recent days, two top stories in the news involved cybersecurity breaches at a water distribution utility and a water treatment plant. Cybersecurity is a concern for all utility companies and we want to assure our Rivergrove customers appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent hacking of our system.

Rivergrove Water District's water source is groundwater that comes from wells we have drilled into the Columbia River Basalt Aquifer.  This water travels through underground pipes and only requires minimal disinfection which is a manual process performed onsite. The risk of a hacker infiltrating our SCADA system and changing our water chemistry is not possible.

Please be assured our water distribution system is safe and secure. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the District office at 503.635.6041.
